Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept walk-ins for tattooing?
YES! Our artists accept walk-ins daily and we tattoo as many walk-ins as we can. Walk-ins are usually tattoos that take two hours or less with drawing time, about palm sized tattoos or smaller. We do them on a first come first served basis and tattoo the next client waiting, so come early. If your tattoo will take more drawing time or tattoo time we can see if we can get you in with another artist that day or we can set up an appointment for another day. We do our best to tattoo as many walk-in clients as we can get in between our appointments, or when we have cancellations, and at the same time we are committed to not rushing any tattoos and giving everyone the time they deserve for a great tattoo. We set up all walk-ins at the shop on a first come first serve basis. This way we can talk to you in person about sizes, location, and your personal design and make sure we allow enough time for a great drawing and a great tattoo.
How do I make an appointment for a tattoo?
There are a few ways. You can visit the shop and talk to one of our artists at the front counter or you can call (404)-973-7828 in advance. We also accept electronic appointments through our contact form. We make almost all appointments in person at the shop to make sure we schedule enough time to have a great drawing, and do a top quality tattoo. Depending on the amount of drawing and preparation time involved, there is a deposit for all appointments. The deposit comes off the final price of the tattoo. Appointments are made in person to give everyone the quality and custom tattoo they deserve. Appointments are recommended, especially for mid to larger sized tattoos.
How do I chose an artist?
Next to safe tattoo procedures, the artists reputation and portfolio is crucial. Our portfolios are proudly displayed on the lobby walls to show our diversity, our originality, our experience, and quality of tattoos. This is very important. Find an artist whose style and technical aspects appeal to you, and look closely for quality application of the tattoos. Above all look for HEALED TATTOOS in the portfolio. Tattooing is incredibly difficult. Without years of study, the correct knowledge, and application experience, a tattooer cannot apply a good tattoo. Always ask to see the artist’s work — they should be proud to show you. There is no better way to see the art work than see the tattoos. Look closely at the line and color quality of the tattoos. Ask people where they got tattooed, especially if you really like the work you see. We are proud of our reputation!
Can I bring my own design?
Yes. This tattoo will be on you permanently so we want to be sure you are totally happy. Bring anything you think might help to capture exactly what you’re looking for your tattoo to reflect. We also have plenty of reference books available for ideas. No matter whether you know exactly what you want or don’t have a clue, we will always work with you to design a custom piece of art that you will love.
How much does it cost?
That depends on the size of the piece and the detail involved. Some pieces cannot be completed in one sitting. You will be given a quote once you meet with the artist and go over the details of what you want. Remember though, if another studio is willing do your tattoo super cheap BEWARE! Sometimes you get what you pay for and this is going to be on you forever. If you do go for the super cheap shop see question on fixing a bad tattoo! We typically have a $100 minimum and charge $100 per hour.
Are there any specific requirements?

We are sorry if this policy causes any inconvenience but is necessary to protect the intrests of our artists.
Is it safe to get a tattoo?
Yes, completely safe for most people Tattoos and piercings are safe, as long as each artist and the entire studio strictly adheres to Universal precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen Safety. You can be assured that Hartford County Tattoo requires each artist to hold client safety as the first and foremost priority. We have the highest level of sterilization possible and go above and beyond all local health codes and laws. We do have a consent/waiver form which identifies certain instances when it would not be appropriate for an individual to receive tattoo or piercing, but these are rare instances.
Does it hurt?
Yes it hurts. But, there are lots of people walking around with tattoos and piercings so it’s not unbearable. There are many sensations used to describe it depending on each person and what area is being worked on. Some people even like it!
Can you cover up a bad tattoo?
Our artists can usually cover up or fix most tattoos-even really bad ones so you would never even know they were there. We are always honest though. If we don’t think it can be successfully covered we will let you know and work with you on what options you do have so you will ultimately be happy. We never do a tattoo just to make a buck. This is a really good group of artists who take tremendous pride in their work and art. Be assured that the artwork on your body and how you feel about it is a reflection on them – meaning your satisfaction is VERY important!
Can my tattoo become infected?
Iron Palm Tattoo has not seen an infection of any of its tattoo work. Proper care should be taken to avoid any problems after you have left the studio. Your artist will verbally go over tattoo aftercare as well as giving you an aftercare sheet with everything written down after the procedure is finished.
Will you tattoo or pierce under 18?
